Andrew Wareham has a tried and true recipe. Create a character, add a fair pinch of early luck and then sit back and view the daily activity of that character in a particular moment in history. Some people might find it repetitive. I enjoy the nuisance detail of the character’s daily living. Here’s to seeing more of Nick and the rest of the motley crew in the VERY near future. This is a pretty standard work from Mr. Wareham, taking a look, this time, into the "lower decks" of the Royal Navy of the late 18th Century. The storyline and characters are quite similar to those in many other books my Mr. Wareham, but this is in no way a bad thing. As usual, we are treated to a really entertaining look into the society and culture of the time. A fun read, and I look forward to sequels.
